He is delighted that all cases he has performed achieved the best possible results. Circumcision is common in young and adult male. While it is not classified as a disease however, it is frequently associated with conditions such as phimosis, balanitis and rarely penile cancer. Circumcision, the removal of the foreskin, is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures in the world. Indications for circumcision are: - Treatment of diseases, such as phimosis (adhesion of foreskin and penile glans), balanitis (penile glans infection). - Painful sexual intercourse secondary to foreskin. - Prophylactic benefits such as decrease risk of HIV, Hepatitis B transmission through sexual intercourse. - Personal and sexual preference. - Social and religious concerns; The development of the foreskin or prepuce begins during the third month of gestation as a fold of skin at the base of the glans. The proper development of the foreskin is dependent on the presence of androgen and androgen receptors. Although formation of the foreskin is complete during foetal life, separation of the foreskin from the penile glans is gradual and typically incomplete at the time of birth. Complete retraction of the foreskin can be expected in 20% of boys by 6 months, 50% by 1 year, 80% by 2 years and 90% by 3 years. Delay retraction and adhesion of foreskin with penile glans can lead to certain medical conditions. At our Orthopaedic Surgery in Greenacre, we accept males of all ages. It is performed under local anaesthetics as an office procedure Please call for Appointment Monday to Friday 9Am to 5Pm +(02) 9758 6333 or send email at email@example.com
